How it Works

The Hay Handler is a new way to pick round bales.

This bale spear allows you to pick two bales and spread or squeeze them together. This allows for faster picking, less bale damage and faster unloading.

Loading

Bales are loaded with the Hay Handler using the following steps. Before loading ensure the left spear is in the down position and the valve on the fork is in the load position. (This valve has been replaced with a sequence valve and it is no longer necessary to flip valves between loading and unloading.)

Step 1. With Both Forks in the down position spear a bale on the right fork.

Step 2. Using the grapple function on your tractor raise the right bale and spear the second on the left spear.

This allows you to pick two bales without dragging and damaging the first or setting the first down and then backing before spearing both bales. Both bales can be picked without dragging or backing up.

Step 3. Using the grapple function squeeze the right bale with the left bale for compact loading.

Unloading

Unloading is much quicker with the Hay Handler. The valve on the spear must be set to the unload position before starting. (This valve has been replaced with a sequence valve and it is no longer necessary to flip valves between loading and unloading.)

The Hay Handler allows you to unload two bales at a time and leave them in rows with space in-between to limit spoilage.

Step 1. With both forks in the down position spear two bales.

Step 2. Spread the bales to the desired width and add them to the end of the row two at a time.
